this very much hinges on the proposed mbti types of each bangtan member from this site: https://kpopmbti.tumblr.com/post/122978561666/rap-monster-istp-i-just-want-to-say-that-im
NAMJOON: 4w5, "the bohemian"
type 4:
(a very very unusual istp. i believe his istp nature is at odds with his 4w5 intellectual intentions, and this is where his seeming contradictions and internal dichotomies arise.)
https://kpopmbti.tumblr.com/post/122978561666/rap-monster-istp-i-just-want-to-say-that-im
“Okay so I had the most trouble when typing Rap Monster because he is just so unlike the traditional descriptions of his type; or maybe I was just over analyzing everything he was saying.”
(i had debated between 5w4 and 4w5 but i think the differences between namjoon and yoongi emphasize the difference between namjoon's "bohemian" nature and yoongi's "iconoclast" nature. they go about things in similar ways and have complimentary ideas but in the end their personal outlooks are different. yoongi is also much more of a thinker type than namjoon is, in the sense that yoongi prefers and values that logic and practicality whereas namjoon is fully capable of being logical and practical but chooses to focus on the philosophical and artistic side of life.)
wing 5:
https://kpopmbti.tumblr.com/post/122978561666/rap-monster-istp-i-just-want-to-say-that-im
“Then it was just a matter of debating between ISTP and INTP. His thoughts are very deep and theoretical which is a typical INTP trait BUT he has no Ne.”
https://thoughtcatalog.com/heidi-priebe/2016/01/mbti-and-the-enneagram-2/3/
“The Type 5 ISTP may find themselves particularly reliant on their introverted thinking and introverted intuition functions, and may find extroverted sensing to be somewhat of a blind spot, as they rarely feel comfortable acting until they have thoroughly scrutinized a given circumstance. This type of ISTP is most likely to be mistaken as an INTP by others, as they may be less quick to act upon their impulses than other Se-driven types.”
https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-4
“Enneagram Four with a Three-Wing: "The Aristocrat"”
vs.
“Enneagram Four with a Five-Wing: "The Bohemian"”
(i believe “the bohemian” suits namjoon’s general approach to life very very well.)
SEOKJIN: 9w8, "the referee"
(extremely difficult to type -- which makes type nine all the more fitting.)
type 9:
https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-9
“Basic Desire: To have inner stability "peace of mind"”
“We have sometimes called the Nine *the crown of the Enneagram* because it is at the top of the symbol and because it seems to include the whole of it. Nines can have the strength of Eights, the sense of fun and adventure of Sevens, the dutifulness of Sixes, the intellectualism of Fives, the creativity of Fours, the attractiveness of Threes, the generosity of Twos, and the idealism of Ones. However, what they generally do not have is a sense of really inhabiting themselves—a strong sense of their own identity.”
“Ironically, therefore, the only type the Nine is not like is the Nine itself. Being a separate self, an individual who must assert herself against others, is terrifying to Nines. They would rather melt into someone else or quietly follow their idyllic daydreams.”
wing 8:
https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-8
“Basic Fear: Of being harmed or controlled by others
Basic Desire: To protect themselves (to be in control of their own life and destiny)”
“Eights are the true “rugged individualists” of the Enneagram. More than any other type, they stand alone. They want to be independent, and resist being indebted to anyone. They often refuse to “give in” to social convention, and they can defy fear, shame, and concern about the consequences of their actions. Although they are usually aware of what people think of them, they do not let the opinions of others sway them.”
YOONGI: 5w4, "the iconoclast"
type 5:
https://thoughtcatalog.com/heidi-priebe/2016/01/mbti-and-the-enneagram-2/6/
“These INTJs are, almost without exception, avid independent researchers. They take everything they read or hear about with a grain of salt – distrusting everything right down to the physical world that surrounds them until they have independently assessed it from every possible angle.”
“At their core, this type believes that their self-worth is dependent upon their competence and capability. They are constantly moving away from feelings of helplessness and incompetence, and toward feelings of understanding and capability.”
wing 4:
https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-5
“Enneagram Five with a Four-Wing: "The Iconoclast"
vs.
“Enneagram Five with a Six-Wing: "The Problem Solver"”
(“the iconoclast” suits yoongi so well. like. itz him.)
HOSEOK: 2w3, "the host/hostess"
type 2:
https://thoughtcatalog.com/heidi-priebe/2016/01/mbti-and-the-enneagram-2/15/
“Type 2 ENFJs are highly outgoing, sociable and friendly in nature. They tend to be active members of their community and are often heavily involved with charity work or helping professions. Being intuitive-auxiliary types, the ENFJ will aim to provide assistance to those around them not just in a practical sense but on a deep emotional level.”
https://thoughtcatalog.com/heidi-priebe/2016/01/mbti-and-the-enneagram-2/15/
“At their core, the type 2 ENFJ believes that they are worthy only insofar as they are helpful to others. They are constantly moving away from feelings of uselessness and towards feelings of love, validation and acceptance. They are most similar in nature to their sensing cousin-type, the ESFJ.”
wing 3:
https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-2
“Enneagram Two with a One-Wing: "Servant"”
vs.
“Enneagram Two with a Three-Wing: "The Host/Hostess"”
(this one is also a no-brainer. he’s soooo “the host/hostess” is there even a question about this.)
JIMIN: 3w2, "the charmer"
(unique case: type 3 is rarer to find in esfps, but i think jimin demonstrates type 3 traits as core to his personality more so than he does type 2.)
type 3:
https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-3
“Threes are self-assured, attractive, and charming. Ambitious, competent, and energetic, they can also be status-conscious and highly driven for advancement. They are diplomatic and poised, but can also be overly concerned with their image and what others think of them. They typically have problems with workaholism and competitiveness. *At their Best*: self-accepting, authentic, everything they seem to be—role models who inspire others.”
“Key Motivations: Want to be affirmed, to distinguish themselves from others, to have attention, to be admired, and to impress others.”
wing 2:
https://thoughtcatalog.com/heidi-priebe/2016/01/mbti-and-the-enneagram-2/13/
“Type 2 ESFPs are extremely warm and welcoming – wanting to make others feel comfortable and supported at all costs. Though they are energetic in nature, they are incredibly patient when it comes to supporting the people they love, and make for great listeners and practical problem-solvers. These types will go well out of their way to help the people they love, whether that means offering them practical assistance, taking them out to get their mind off things, or having a long, encouraging conversation about how the other person is feeling. Type 2 ESFPs are often highly in touch with their introverted feeling and are very insightful about the desires, fears and motivations of others.”
“They are constantly moving away from feelings of insignificance and towards feelings of love and appreciation. They are most like their extroverted-feeling dominant friends, ESFJs.”
https://kpopmbti.tumblr.com/post/122978561666/rap-monster-istp-i-just-want-to-say-that-im
“Jimin was one of the easiest for me to type. I did think he had Fe for a while because he is just so thoughtful and the members described him as being the one who listens to all their problems the best which didn’t really strike me as an ESFP trait (no offense to all the ESFPs out there).”
https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-3
“Enneagram Three with a Two-Wing: "The Charmer"”
vs.
“Enneagram Three with a Four-Wing: "The Professional"”
(both of these suit him but i was confident he had type 2 to some degree, much more than he has 4, i think. i could technically see both because he does have a very strong sense of individuality and artistic identity etc etc as a type 4 would have….but “the charmer” was just too perfect haha)
TAEHYUNG: 7w8, "the realist"
type 7:
https://thoughtcatalog.com/heidi-priebe/2016/01/mbti-and-the-enneagram-2/9/
“Type 7 ENTPs tend to be energetic, explorative and wildly imaginative – placing a heavy emphasis on their extroverted intuition and preferring the pursuit of new ideas to their corresponding follow-through. This type of ENTP is likely to jump from experience to experience throughout the course of their lives – harnessing their natural entrepreneurial skills to cultivate unique opportunities for themselves that deviate from the societal norm. They are highly independent and dislike being constrained, but they have less of a desire to control the world around them than their type 8 counterparts. Rather, they enjoy manipulating their environments for fun, and as a means of avoiding stagnancy.”
“At their core, type 7 ENTPs are driven by the fear of becoming trapped, stuck or stagnant in their lives. They are constantly moving away from deprivation and toward variety and abundance. These ENTPs are most similar to their sensory-oriented cousin, the ESTP.”
https://kpopmbti.tumblr.com/post/122978561666/rap-monster-istp-i-just-want-to-say-that-im
“Suga once said that “he’s immature and isn’t able to become serious. It seems like he doesn’t care what others think,” and this really made me think of Ti. Since Fe is a tertiary function in ENTPs, and because he’s so young, it can be hard to adjust to other people’s feelings. But he find it super easy to make friends with people (especially with his father Daehyun), and often mentions how he has a lot of friends because he isn’t picky or judgmental and people are drawn to hat about him (a typical ENTP trait). He has this extra childishness that comes with being young and that’s why his Ti isn’t that prominent unless you really devour everything he says like I did.”
wing 8:
https://kpopmbti.tumblr.com/post/122978561666/rap-monster-istp-i-just-want-to-say-that-im
something taehyung said himself: “"I have a motto that came from my father: “What is that that’s so important.” It has a lot of meaning. I have moments where I’m tired, annoyed, and don’t want to do things. But whenever I think of these words, those things become nothing. If you endure through it, good things will come your way. My father ingrained this into my head so whenever I’m at hardship, I think of these words so I hope we never forget this.””
https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-8
“Thayer is a stockbroker who has worked intensively on understanding her type Eight personality. She recounts a childhood incident in which she could clearly see the development of this pattern.
“Much of my tenacity and toughness comes from my Dad. He always told me not to ‘let anybody push you around.’ It was not okay to cry. I learned to master my weaker side early on. At the tender age of eight, a huge horse ran away with me. When an adult caught the horse, I resolutely dismounted without a tear. I could tell my father was proud.””
https://enneagrampaths.com/2020/07/17/enneagram-types-7w6-vs-7w8/
“They can seem less friendly than the 7w6, but only because they care less about what others think and refuse to be put into boxes. This natural ability to be themselves then extends to others, creating space for healthy individuality and uniqueness.”
JUNGKOOK: 6w7, "the buddy"
type 6:
https://thoughtcatalog.com/heidi-priebe/2016/01/mbti-and-the-enneagram-2/10/
“Type 6 ISFJs are highly security-oriented. Their core fear is that they are unable to provide for themselves and so they are incredibly loyal and diligent to people around them – believing that having strong social support will bring them security.”
“Type 6 ISFJs place a strong trust in societal institutions and organizations – which is exaggerated by their dominant introverted sensing function. They are likely to seek out jobs, affiliations and group memberships that are long lasting and mutually reciprocal. They are incredibly loyal to the institutions they involve themselves in, deriving a sense of security from the consistency of their involvement. Type 6 ISFJs are constantly moving away from feelings of inadequacy and toward feelings of support and guidance. They most closely resemble their ISTJ cousins, in that they are diligent, hardworking and loyal as a rule.”
https://kpopmbti.tumblr.com/post/122978561666/rap-monster-istp-i-just-want-to-say-that-im
“He’s described as being kind, innocent, and bad at expressing his feelings. He’s also super bad at refusing requests. I definitely think that he has Fe rather than Te but it’s harder to notice because of how withdrawn he is. Hes always said how uncomfortable he is speaking in front of people and in interviews so that is definitely an indicator that his Fe isn’t as developed as it should be because he is so closed off. But his manners are still first class like how he he’s aware of social norms.”
“The actions he takes reflect what he’s done in the past depending on what has and hasn’t worked for him. For example when he’s reading he thinks “If I read, then I’ll become better at speaking then I am now, right?” He often mentions how he’s changed compared to his trainee days. The words he lives by are that passion is imperative in order to grow and that passion is fueled by accumulated experiences.”
wing 7:
(i believe that jungkook's wing 7 is quite strong and this is what makes him such an unusually impulsive, active, and playful isfj.)
https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-6
“Enneagram Six with a Five-Wing: "The Defender"”
vs.
“Enneagram Six with a Seven-Wing: "The Buddy"”
(both roles could suit him but i think we can all agree that he is very much not a thinker type 5. lol)
